HAY DESIGN STUDIO is a Melbourne based Interior Design Studio known for its passionate approach to design and meticulous attention to detail.
Design Director Johanna Hay has over 20 years of industry experience working locally and internationally. Her experience has seen her work on both residential and commercial projects involved in the interior design, architectural drafting and the documentation component of small and large scale projects.
With a motivated, passionate and creative approach the focus at HAY DESIGN STUDIO is bringing our client’s vision to life by creating spaces that are both aesthetically pleasing and practical to live in.

STUDIO PROCESS
01 DESIGN BRIEF
We conduct a comprehensive client consultation where we discuss project requirements, budget and timeframe. A fee proposal is put together.
02 CONCEPT
A client brief is put together along with a detailed site measure and site photos. This stages involves initial sketches and design alternatives.
03 DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
Further development of the chosen design concept. Detailed plans are prepared alongside rendered 3D visuals.
04 WORKING DRAWINGS
The final design development and documentation of drawings. These may include floor plans, electrical plans, sections, elevations and detailed drawings of architectural and design elements, along with all drawing notes and dimensions necessary for the construction and installation of the design.
05 INTERIOR AND PROJECT SPECIFICATION
A fittings and finishes schedule is put together and reviewed with client for approval. These items include everything from joinery finishes, tiles, tapware, wall paint, to carpet and floor timber. Samples and showroom visits may be required to finalise selections. Furniture selections are considered to allow for purchasing and lead times.
06 CONSTRUCTION PHASE
Pricing, signing contract with your builder. We are happy to consult during this stage.
07 CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION
Site meetings with client and contractors. Provision of additional drawings and design may be required. Review Shop drawings (cabinet maker’s drawings). Defects list.
08 COMPLETION
Finalise documentation. Ensure client satisfaction. Handover.
